Creating Waypoints in Pathfinder Office  4.1(PFO)
Option 1:Â Input single points
1)Â Â Â Â Open a project in PFO
2)    Set the coordinate system (Options/Coordinate Systems)
- Make sure your units are correct
3)Â Â Â Â Go to File/Waypoints/New
4)Â Â Â Â Give your waypoint file a name
5)Â Â Â Â Click on Create
6)Â Â Â Â Name your point and enter your coordinates
- If you don’t know the elevation or you aren’t worried about it, type in 0
7)Â Â Â Â Click on Save to store the point.
8)    Repeat steps 5 – 7 to add other points
Option 2:Â Import an ASCII file
1)Â Â Â Â Create an ASCII file (.asc, .cvs, .tsv, or .txt)
- Make sure to at least include Northing/Latitude, Easting/Longitude, Description
2)Â Â Â Â Select File/waypoints/ASCII import
3)Â Â Â Â Select file you want to import and click OPEN
- Input File Format
-                                                    i.    Type in your input file format (see help menu for examples
- N = Northing
- E = Easting
- U = USNG Coordinate
- Z = Elevation
- D = Description
- –Â Â = Field not imported
-                                                    i.    Type in your input file format (see help menu for examples
- Do not import rows starting with (See Help Menu)
- Start import at row
-                                                    i.    Use this if you have some type of header in the file
4)Â Â Â Â Select the coordinate system for the waypoints
5)Â Â Â Â Click on OK
Transferring to the data collector
1)Â Â Â Â Connect data collector to computer via USB or Serial cable
2)Â Â Â Â Click on the data transfer icon, or go to Utilities/Data Transfer
3)Â Â Â Â Make sure your device type is correct
4)    Click on the Green Check to connect device…if it isn’t already connected
5)Â Â Â Â Click on the Send tab
6)Â Â Â Â Click Add, then waypoints
7)Â Â Â Â OK, and Transfer all.
Navigating to waypoints in TerraSync
1)Â Â Â Â Open TerraSync
2) Go to the Navigation Menu
3) Under the Nav button you will see Navigate
4) Click the dropdown arrow next to Navigate and choose Waypoints
5)Â Â Â Â Highlight the waypoint file and click on open
Navigation Option 1:
Â
1)Â Â Â Â Under the Data menu
2)Â Â Â Â Highlight the point that you would like to navigate to
3)Â Â Â Â Click on Options/Set Nav Target/ and click on your point
– This will put 2 flags in front of the waypoint
4)Â Â Â Â You can either go to the Navigation Menu or the Map menu to Nav to the points
Navigation Option 2:
1)Â Â Â Â Under the Map menu
2)Â Â Â Â Select a point on the map
3)Â Â Â Â Click on Options/Set Nav Target/ and click on your point
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â This will put 2 flags in front of the waypoint
5)Â Â Â Â Start walking towards your point
