Answer
To install Trimble Access Field Software onto a tablet or data collector you will execute the installer on the device. It will not be docked or connected to a local PC. Enable the WiFi on the tablet and establish an internet connection. Launch the web browser and go to Trimble.com – Support & Training – Support A-Z – Trimble Access – Downloads – Trimble Installation Manager (TIM). Install the .msi and run the application (Agee to the terms and leave the default settings as is and click next through the setup wizard to complete the install).
Once TIM is installed go to the start menu on the controller or tablet and to Trimble installation manager (program will open and show connected to the tablet in the top left and will display the serial number and identification. In the top right corner you will see “Latest version 2016.xx”. If this is not what is stated then click on the pull down menu and select that version).
Update will populate after a few seconds with three primary groups. Office updates, Field updates, and Language. Under Office updates de-select Trimble Improvement Program. Under Field updates ensure that all features are checked. And under Language select English unless you are more fluent in another language.
Once these columned items are checked, click install in the lower right corner. Ensure that the device has a strong wireless signal and that battery is well charged or on external power.
When install is complete the installer will tell you that the operation is complete and allow the option to finish. If everything has installed successfully then you will be able to launch Trimble access from the desktop icon or the program list.
