Trimble® Positions™ Desktop add-in was first released in 2012 as an add-in to Esri® ArcGIS® Desktop, designed to integrate high accuracy data collection workflows into on-premise ArcGIS infrastructure. Over the years, supported field workflows included ArcGIS for Windows Mobile (with Trimble Positions Mobile extension), ArcGIS ArcPad (with Trimble Positions ArcPad extension), Trimble TerraSync™, and Trimble TerraFlex™ software. The latest version (10.8.1.3) was released in late 2021 and supports both of the Trimble field workflows. The Esri field workflows were deprecated in earlier versions of Trimble Positions Desktop add-in following Esri’s retirement of those two products. Product Alternatives
Trimble Terra Office add-in for ArcMap supports all of the same field workflows as the most recent release of Trimble Positions Desktop add-in and is thus a fully functional replacement product, with only minor changes to the user experience. It also supports offline GNSS corrections for TerraFlex and uses a subscription license model. A trade-in promotion (Upgrade Bulletin ID: MGIS-TPDa-TIB-102022) is available for Trimble Positions Desktop add-in users with a current Trimble Protection Plan (TPP).
